Every garden begins with listening — to the land, the house, and the people who will live within it.

With over four decades of practice across Ireland's finest private estates, Philip Brightling brings an uncompromising commitment to craft, materials, and the living ecology of each site. No two gardens are alike. None should be.

Recognised as Landscaper of the Year, Philip's work is distinguished by an intuitive understanding of how structure, planting, and stone evolve together over time — reaching their full expression a decade or more after completion.

01

Site & Vision

Every project begins with a site visit and an unhurried conversation — about how you use your garden, what you love, and what the land itself is asking for.

02

Design & Materials

Detailed drawings and material selections are developed — often incorporating stone and found material from the site itself, as in the celebrated Killiney terrace commission.

03

The Build

Philip oversees every stage personally. Structural integrity, drainage, and the placement of each element are executed to an exacting standard.

04

The Long Game

The best gardens improve with time. Philip's planting schemes are designed for the decade ahead — so that what you see on completion is only the beginning.

"The Philip Brightling designed and landscaped grounds are as impressive as the residence itself. Rolling split-level lawns, meandering stone-set pathways, impressive stone rockeries, vibrant flowerbeds, and mature planting create a sense of tranquillity and privacy."
